(Update) Electrical Power Failure – GITC Datacenter 4/14/16 2:30am

Update:

A power outage in the University Heights area is impacting the GITC, CAB, and ME buildings. Classes and labs within those buildings are cancelled for the remainder of today and this evening, April 14. Offices in those impacted buildings only are also closed for the remainder of today and this evening April 14. Staff in the impacted buildings are encouraged consult with their supervisors to find alternate locations to work, if possible. Essential personnel in those impacted buildings should report to work for regular shift. All other classes and offices are open and operational. Updates will be provided by 5:30 AMon Friday, April 15 regarding the status of the impacted buildings through the Campus Notification System and website.

On Thursday morning (Wednesday night) April 14, 2016 at approximately 2:30am the GITC building lost electrical power service. The CAB and MEC buildings and other portions of Newark have also lost power.

Classes in GITC, MEC and CAB are cancelled until 1pm. Administrative offices in GITC, MEC and CAB are closed until 1pm. This message will be updated as additional information becomes available.

All other classes and offices are open and operational.

The NJIT computing datacenter has lost electical power. Most computing resources including most servers, Banner, the NJIT web site, moodle, webmail, the admissions application services and the campus portal are not available. Telephone service is working and has not been impacted.

PSEG is currently working to restore power. Time of restoration is not known.
