UPS equipment failure Impacts Campus IT Services September 3, 2015 – 6:05 PM

On Thursday, September 3, 2015 at approximately 6:05pm, network connectivity to Mechanical Engineering Center (MEC), Central Avenue Building (CAB) and portions of Guttenberg Technology Center (GITC) 4th and 5th floors was lost briefly due to a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) equipment failure. Network connectivity was restored at 6:10pm.

Additionally, it caused a service outage for the Admissions Portal, Graduate Award Nomination system, Employer Address Change reporting system for OPT students, Visitor Parking system, and Media Services Equipment Delivery System, as well an Oracle database server named ASCII2.

Some research systems may still be offline and will be restored tomorrow.

All other affected services were restored at 6:51pm.

The database integrity was verified and there was no loss of data detected.
